Environmental Statement
Our commitment to sustainability
At Personalised for Autism (P4A), we recognise our responsibility to minimise our environmental impact and are fully committed to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050. This commitment aligns with the UK Government’s 2035 target for the transition to electric vehicle fleets and our objective to improve the energy performance of all offices, supported accommodation, and supported living properties to an EPC rating of at least C by 2040.
To identify the most effective actions for reducing our carbon footprint, we are currently assessing our environmental impact across the following key areas. Data collection is ongoing and will inform our baseline emissions report and reduction roadmap.
Category | Description | Unit |
---|---|---|
Scope 1 | Direct emissions from our owned or controlled sources | tCO₂e |
Scope 2 | Indirect emissions from purchased electricity | tCO₂e |
Scope 3 | Indirect emissions from business travel and other supply-chain activities | tCO₂e |
Gross emissions (Location-based) | Emissions using grid-average electricity factors | tCO₂e |
Gross emissions (Market-based) | Emissions using supplier-specific energy data | tCO₂e |
Energy consumption | Energy used to calculate emissions | kWh |
Intensity measure | Number of operational sites | # of sites |
Intensity ratio | Emissions per operational site | tCO₂e per site |
Our Key Actions Toward Net Zero
We are actively implementing and planning the following initiatives to help us achieve our net zero target:
- Reassess all supported living properties through updated EPC surveys.
- Upgrade lighting to LED across the property estate.
- Switch to 100% renewable electricity suppliers as contracts expire, targeting completion by 2026.
- Ensure all new electrical appliances purchased are rated Grade C or higher for energy efficiency.
- Support recycling and reuse in high-impact locations and partner with charity shops to identify suitable items for donation.
- Capture and analyse data on staff travel and deliveries to identify reduction opportunities.
- Embed energy efficiency principles into property maintenance and refurbishment projects.
- Continue to reduce paper usage through electronic systems and digital communication.
- Encourage and facilitate the use of public transport among the people we support.
- Plan outreach and supported living sessions efficiently to minimise travel and unnecessary journeys.
Accountability & Progress
The P4A Management Team oversees environmental and sustainability efforts, with regular reviews to track progress against our commitments. We will produce a baseline emissions report to set measurable reduction targets and publish annual updates to stakeholders.
